Pickleball in Helensburgh and Dumbarton began with the passion of few local players and a group of racket sport enthusiasts who discovered the game, and instantly fell in love with it. What started as a casual introduction quickly gained momentum, as the group began organising regular sessions in both towns, welcoming newcomers and seasoned players alike.
The buzz around pickleball grew, and soon we were delivering taster sessions, introducing coaching, and even entering local league teams. The enthusiasm and community spirit around the sport helped it flourish, creating a welcoming space for players of all ages and abilities.
From those early sessions, one of our local players has gone on to become a recognised ambassador for the sport and a certified pickleball coach, helping to inspire and support the next wave of players. In a true milestone moment, we recently hosted our first pickleball festival, bringing together 50 players for a fantastic day of fun, competition, and community spirit.
We’re proud of how far pickleball has come in our area - and we’re just getting started!
